UK: CDRC Maps

Want to know about the present conditions in the area in the UK where an ancestor lived? Then check out the website of the Consumer Data Research Centre. At http://maps.cdrc.ac.uk/ you'll find a map with eight geodemographic classifications. They are: rural residents, cosmopolitans, ethnicity central, multicultural metropolitans, urbanites, suburbanites, constrained city dwellers and hard-pressed living.
Although the map starts out over London you can pan and zoom your way across the UK. Home in on a street or small area of interest, mouse over and a more detailed description appears such as "suburban achievers - ageing in suburbia."
There more to explore including, for London, a map of the median construction decade of buildings.
