Is there a list somewhere of the crew members?
The post is updated to include a crew list.
A plaque, originally located in the Royal United Services Institution (RUSI), was donated to the Royal Museums Greenwich. It can be ordered to view in the Library reading room. Under HMS Erebus, at the bottom of the plaque are the Royal Marines. One Marine is Corporal Alexander Paterson, aged 30.
Your list refers to an Alexander Pearson, Corporal (Royal Marines) on that ship.
The Paterson family is of the opinion that this Pearson reference may be an error. Could you please confirm your data, or is it a perpetuation of a misreading by some earlier eyes?
Your response would be much appreciated and we do have close relations of the Paterson family available for a DNA test. Has there already been a confirmation of this former Erebus crew member by DNA testing?
